Erasmus Intenzivni program Prevention for active aging

Active ageing is a topical subject, to which the whole of the year 2012 (The European Year of Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations) was dedicated. Also at the College of Nursing in Celje, we got activelly involved in the development, and in the context of the Erasmus project - Intensive Programme, reported a project entitled Prevention for Active Ageing, which was at the end of May 2012 confirmed at the The Centre of the Republic of Slovenia for Mobility and European Educational and Training Programmes. The accepted IP offers an international and interdisciplinary approach in a number of fields (including nursing, medicine, sociology, psychology, etc.) with the emphasis on prevention for active ageing.

In June 2013, we have at the College of Nursing in Celje successfully completed the first international summer school entitled "Prevention for Active Aging." The two-week-long summer school was dedicated to the exploration of various activities, which are carried out in the individual partner countries for the promotion of active ageing, as well as to the presentation of best practice cases in the Slovenian area, and the formulation of proposals for further activities in this area. An important part of the summer school were also excursions (Anton Trstenjak institute of gerontology and intergenerational relations, learning about the voluntary work of the elderly in the Slovene Ethnographic Museum, a visit to the Nursing Home Nina Pokorn Grmovje, to the General Hospital in Celje) and getting to know Slovenia (Celje, Ljubljana, a tour of the Franja Hospital, etc.), as well as varied social and  sporting activities.
